Unclaimed Memories is an installation which is dedicated to the homeless who have died unclaimed and ignored even in death.
Approximately 5,000 authentic toe tags issued by the state of Connecticut are installed on the walls and hung from iron nails.
There is a group of footstones included in the installation. Eash stone has a word engraved on it, which says: “Who will remember how they liked their coffee?” It's a generic statement that could apply to anyone, and is a device used to raise our awareness of those unclaimed and not remembered. Toe tags are the only marker to identify their existence.
